What We Believe

Statement of Faith

God and the Bible are trustworthy.

God has gone to great lengths to reveal himself to us in the overarching narrative of scripture. We believe the Bible is the foundation of God’s revelation of his nature, character, sovereignty and plan to reconcile all people to him. The scriptures serve as the final authority and lens through which we see the world around us and discern the movement of the Spirit in our lives.

Context matters.

We make every effort to interpret the Bible in its original context and according to its diverse spectrum of literary genres, perspectives and authors--all inspired by God himself.

Jesus is Savior and King.

In light of our belief in the trustworthiness of the Bible, we believe Jesus is the only way we are able to be reconciled to and live in relationship with God. Jesus embodied God’s true love, grace and self-sacrifice that is the key to our redemption from sin and death. Jesus’ salvation is eternal--extending beyond this life into an eventual new creation.

God is for us.

We find in the narrative of the Bible that Jesus’ death and resurrection are the result of God’s love for us and his desire to redeem us from our brokenness into eternal relationship with him. Jesus offers us forgiveness for our sin and purpose for our lives as well as the promise to leverage good from every evil and hurt.

The church is the body of Christ.

We believe that the global and local community of Christ-followers are the tangible manifestation of God’s grace and love for all people. We believe that a relationship with God begins as a personal decision that grows and mature in the context of the church community. God’s Spirit moves, speaks and transforms us primarily through church community.
